The Department of Audit, FCT was created in June, 2005 as one of the Common Service Departments in line with the Federal Government reform program of Dissolution Order No. 1 of 2004 and reports directly to the Hon. Minister.
Functions:
(i) To examine the accounts and books of all Secretariats, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals created by the Federal Capital Territory Administration where funds had been appropriated to meet the expenditure of the SDAs and report thereon to the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
(ii) To examine the records of any of the SDAs with regards to the administration of the votes, funds, monies under their responsibilities.
(iii) TTo carry out investigation, where irregularities are reported into the accounts of any of the SDAs and report the findings to the Honourable Minister of Federal Capital Territory.
